In the Netherlands, around 80.000 new cancer patients are diagnosed every year. Nowadays several types of cancer can be treated, and research makes more progress everyday in finding new ways of helping the patients.
Unfortunately, the most experimental treatments are not always supported by the insurances, despites proves of good results.
With your help, the Foundation Erik Hoogveld (Stichting Erik Hoogveld) will give Erik Hoogveld another chance of getting cured and improve his quality of life. In the future; the foundation would also like to help other cancer patients in the need.
The costs of the treatment Erik is now starting are of 30.000 euros for the first 6 months. If it is successful, he will do it again and we would have to gather 100.00 euros in the coming 2 years.

On May 10th 2010, Janneke Bloemendal, one of our volonteers will leave for a trip to Santiago de Compostella.
Last week, Janneke was on TV Apeldoorn to tell her story and how she supports the Foundation through this action.

It has been a while we did not give any news of Erik.
He has been doing quite good for the past months. the pain he had in the back has improved a lot, and he could enjoy some cycling and walking on the beach during the few days of holidays he has taken with his family.

The foundation organizes a fund raising party on the occasion of the Football Worldcup game between The Netherlands and Japan. The party will start at 12:30 and will last until 9:00 pm. Naturally, the theme will be “Orange”! There will be a price for the best outfit, and a football poule game with nice prices. There are only 300 tickets, be quick. As scheduled, Erik will be very busy with the treatment during the whole month of January.
He will be going twice a week to Germany for hyper-thermy sessions and also for another dendritic cell injection. So, next week, he will be going for hyper-thermy on Tuesday, and for the injection on saturday.
Erik has been able to drive the 3 hours from Amsterdam, on his own almost everytime. But, because of the weather, the fatigue and sometimes the pain, it is not safe anymore for him to go alone. The fundation is now arranging that volunteers can go and drive with/for him.
Thanks to the Captain of the luxurious boat “Engelenbak”the foundation can offer a fantastic trip.
For a donation of 7.000 Euros, you can get a 1-week cruise for 2 persons between May and August 2010.
The locatiion of the cruise depends on the period you will choose.
The Captain was also a victim of kidney cancer and wants to support the foundatioin with offering this trip.
The boat is 20m long and 6 meters large.
The only two other persons sharing this trip will be the captain and his wife.
